In the turn of the 20th century De Dion-Bouton was a pioneer of using imagery of woman in its marketing.
There were many strategic reasons: to promote use of use, to position the car as a fashionable consumer product and to expand their audience.
This scarf celebrates De Dion-Bouton’s association with modernity and freedom at the time of the emergence of the ‘New Woman’. The title is inspired from the depiction of a women driving a chauffeur in one of their advertising posters.
